Infographic, We Can. I Can. Inspire Action, Take action

The estimated number of cancer incidents in Canada is clearly demonstrated in this illustration provided by The Cancer Society.  As you can see it only includes the most common types of cancer and this led me to my point; the best way to prevent cancer is to screen.

Screening that is available for cancer detection includes breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancer, only to name a few. They can detect cancerous cells before you experience symptoms. Screening for cancer allows doctors to see changes in the body that could be related to cancer. With the early discovery, at the right age, family history and overall health will inform your doctor to help treat and next steps.

The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care website has helpful tools and resources. In particular, under screening tools; it has a section for each type of cancer and what age, recommendation and on how frequent and even explains who it is not applicable to screen. For example, under the letter C, you will find Cervical Cancer in the picture to the right. You can find more information on other Cancer. Visit https://canadiantaskforce.ca/tools-resources/.
