We are proud to be a part of both St. Thomas and London communities! With a little care and patience, the public can prevent injury and illness in the workplace, at home, and in the community.
One of the more invisible maladies affecting us all is stress. Whether in the context of the workplace or within the community, there are multiple sources of stress reduction and management to investigate – something that works for someone else may not work for you, so it’s best to explore different options and find what works best for you. Here are some examples:
Getting outdoors – whether it is to engage in physical activity or just to soak in the natural world, being outside can be a realm of comfort and relief. While we continue to practice social distancing, even relaxing in the backyard can do wonders for your mood.
Games and activities – board games, online games, and puzzles, whether done alone or with friends and family, have been shown to have a positive impact on stress levels. Finding some time to focus on an activity you find rewarding can have very positive benefits for raising spirits.
Apps and social media – journaling positive thoughts and emotions, signing up for feeds relating to your interests, or even just browsing pictures of cute animals can have a calming effect and brighten your day.
Get social – pick up the phone and give someone a call! It’s easy to forget to connect, but speaking with a friend or relative can definitely have the potential to ease stress levels.
