Non-Electronic Infusion Pumps and the Innovation of Home Infusion
Infusion therapy is traditionally managed by gravity administration, or an electronic ambulatory infusion pump. Both methods require the knowledge and expertise of healthcare providers.
We are proud of introducing elastomeric infusion devices and change to the model of care for the delivery of outpatient antibiotic therapy (OPAT) in the home. This empowers clients and caregivers to have an active participatory role in their care, a reduction in supply and equipment rental costs related to the delivery of OPAT and improves utilization of nursing resources.
This innovation led us to be awarded the Third Place Poster Prize 2018 for our exceptional poster presentation at the annual Canadian Vascular Access Association (CVAA).
