I love eggs for breakfast! Not only are they super easy to make, but they also taste good! It probably comes as no surprise that there are also many health benefits to eating eggs — and according to research, some of them are long-term!

In data published by the Nutrients scientific journal, a study found that those who ate five or more eggs per week had a lower risk of developing prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Participants displayed lower fasting glucose levels, which is a measure used to diagnose prediabetes and type 2 diabetes by indicating the amount of glucose present in the body.

Additionally, those eating five or more eggs weekly also had a significantly lower risk of developing high blood pressure. Researchers believe that this is partly because of antioxidants found in the protein in eggs, which may prevent the narrowing of blood vessels.

Regardless of how you like your eggs (personally, I like over-easy), eating eggs regularly is good for you and your long-term health. So next time you’re whipping up brunch for you or your family, get cracking on those eggs!
