February is a strange month. You blink and next thing you know shamrocks and leprechauns have replaced all the hearts and chocolates. However, even though February is the shortest month of the year, this doesn’t mean that your health needs to get the short end of the stick.

Across Canada, February is Preventative Health Awareness Month. Preventative Health Awareness Month is all about taking care of your health before you get sick.

Now you might be wondering, what are some preventative actions you can take before getting sick? I’ve listed a couple of examples below:

  • Eat healthy and balanced meals. This will give your body the nutrients it needs to fight off potential diseases.
  • Exercise. You don’t need to be a gym rat in order to exercise, even going for a walk around the block is a great way to look after your health.
  • Sleep. After all, nothing is more rejuvenating than getting a full night’s sleep.
  • Take your prescribed medications. Taking any medications you have as prescribed is the key to good health.

Taking care of your health not only helps you feel better in the long run, but it also allows you to engage in a bit of self-love. I truly can’t think of anything more fitting for the month of love than to be taking care of yourself.
