Curious about how custom compression garments compare to off-the-shelf compression garments? We’ve compiled some pointers that explain the differences between the two.
- For custom compression garments, you can get garments tailored specifically to your measurements (and preferences!) While you might find off-the-shelf compression garments that fit, if you want compression garments that fit like a glove, custom measurements are the way to go.
- Custom compression garments can be made from a wide variety of different fabrics. Meanwhile, off-the-shelf garments are made from a limited selection of fabrics, custom compression garments can be made with natural and synthetic fabrics. It’s a great option if you are sensitive to certain fabrics. (Or do not fit in the standard measurements for OTC)
- When you purchase a custom compression garment, you also get medical grade compression levels that start at 20-30 mmHg. Whereas off-the-shelf compression garments typically have compression levels 15-20mmHg, which aren’t as effective for conditions such as veins insufficiency, tired achy legs, and mild to severe swelling.
Ultimately, it’s up to you which of the two you’d prefer. However, if you’re looking for a custom compression garment, call me (Deborah) Yurek Pharmacy at 555 Wellington Road South to book a free consultation. Your fitting awaits!
