If you are someone who’s not thrilled about the arrival of winter, you’re in good company with about 400,000 bears across Canada! Bears prepare thoroughly, create a cozy den, and adapt their lifestyle to the season. While they don’t exactly “celebrate” winter, they’ve evolved to work with it rather than against it.
As grown humans, we can take inspiration from our grizzly friends. Instead of fighting winter, we can line our home with soft blankets, warm lighting and wholesome food (but let’s not overdo the calories ☺). The human mind works in a funny way, and sometimes a feel-good vibe is all it takes to brighten up a gloomy day.
Unlike hibernating animals though, we can and should stay active and social during winter. Arm yourself with thermal layers and winter boots. Make sure your hats, gloves and scarves are warm enough. If they happen to be fashionable too, it’s a bonus.
Winter isn’t meant to be survived – it’s an occasion to be enjoyed in your own unique way. Whether it’s making soup, learning to knit or just staring at falling snow, it’s an opportunity to try something different that people in hot and humid climates envy.
