It’s been four years since my blog post about swimming (https://yurekpharmacy.com/swimming/) Now, I want to point out the benefits of enrolling your kids in swimming lessons.

When my siblings and I were little, my parents enrolled us in swimming lessons. All six of us were naturally drawn to water. Not only did swimming lessons teach us how to swim, but we also acquired other skills that benefited our health and development.

For starters, swimming lessons help promote water safety. They gave us a layer of protection against drowning. Not only that, but they also taught us a great form of exercise — a low-impact way to gain strength and endurance while also having fun. In turn, we have all enrolled our children in swimming lessons so they can experience a fun form of exercise.

Swimming lessons promote our children and grandchildren’s physical development. They also contribute to their mental development. Children of all ages, backgrounds, sizes, and physical abilities can socialize while being active. Those who take swimming lessons will also develop confidence from knowing how to swim.

Swimming lessons (at YMCA and community centres) last a few weeks. The confidence they build can last a lifetime. Give your child the gift of knowing that wherever life takes them, they can stay afloat—in more ways than one.
