Keeping safe and healthy ensures that we will enjoy the holiday season. Here are some tips to help:
- Practice proper hand hygiene: Wash hands with soap and clean water for at least 20 seconds and teach children to do the same.
- Dress appropriately for the cold weather: Wear layered clothing to stay warm and dry. Include gloves, hats, and scarves to complete your outfit.
- Avoid impaired driving: Don’t drink and drive and encourage others to follow suit.
- Remember vaccinations: Ensure flu and COVID-19 vaccines are up to date to help reduce the spread of infections while friends and family gather.
- Fire hazards: Never leave fireplaces, space heaters, or cooking unattended. Test smoke alarms and replace batteries as needed.
- Food safety: Wash produce, sanitize surfaces, cook foods to the correct temperatures, and put leftovers in the fridge as soon as possible. Take extra care when reheating prepared meals.
