Summer in London and the surrounding area is a time for beach days, outdoor adventures, and soaking up the sun. But with rising temperatures and increased sun exposure, I recommend putting together a summer survival kit to stay safe and healthy.
- Sun Protection: Sunscreen is a must—choose one with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and reapply every two hours, especially after swimming. A wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses can further shield you from harmful rays.
- Hydration & Nutrition: Dehydration can sneak up fast in the summer heat. Carry plenty of water and opt for electrolyte-rich drinks to replenish lost minerals. Pack healthy snacks like fruits and nuts to keep energy levels up.
- Soothe your Skin: Unfortunately, sometimes we forget our sunscreen and end up with a sunburn. You can take an anti inflammatory, such as ibuprofen, to reduce the inflammation. Additionally, a cool bath or shower will ease the burning sensation. It is very important to keep your skin well moisturized while it heals. Choose products containing soothing ingredients, like aloe, soy, oatmeal, or vitamin E. Products like these rehydrate your skin, which makes the tightness and itching feel better.
With the right preparation, you can enjoy the best of summer while staying safe and energized. So, grab your kit and make the most of the sunshine!
