Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., UV rays are at their peak—even on cloudy days. Plan outdoor activities outside these hours when possible or seek shade.

Sunscreen

  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+ on exposed skin.
  • Apply generously—about 2–3 tbsp for the body, 1 tsp for the face and neck.
  • Reapply after swimming, sweating, or towel-drying.
  • Use lip balm with SPF.
  • Look for the Canadian Dermatology Association logo for trusted products.

Protective Clothing

  • Wear tight-weave or UV-rated clothing that covers as much skin as possible.
  • Choose a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face, ears, and neck.

Eye Protection

  • Wear wraparound sunglasses with 100% UVA/UVB protection (look for “UV400”).
  • Contact lenses aren’t enough—they don’t protect the surrounding skin.

Shade Like a Pro

  • Find dense vegetation or covered structures that block UV from the side and above.
  • Use tightly woven canopies or umbrellas and still wear sunscreen—shade doesn’t block scattered UV rays.

So, next time the sun’s blazing, remember: you don’t need to roast to enjoy the outdoors. Rock that wide-brimmed hat like it’s runway-ready, layer up like it’s SPF fashion week, and reapply that sunscreen like your glow depends on it—because it does. Shade is your shady best friend, and sunglasses? Non-negotiable. Vampires may avoid the sun entirely, but you? You’re smarter. You’re stylish. You’re sun safe. Stay cool, stay covered, and tan like a total pro—without the burn.
