You know, many people will say that they think their co-workers or staff are the best. I have the luxury of knowing that mine are truly the best.

In a world that occasionally throws sparks and smoke our way, the pharmacy team I work with responds like a steady flame that refuses to be blown out. When a fire disrupted our space, it could have scattered us. Instead, it pulled us tighter, like a well-practiced orchestra finding its tempo in the middle of chaos.

There were no grand speeches, just action. Phones were answered from borrowed desks, medications were coordinated with precision, and patients were reassured with voices that carried calm even when the situation was anything but. People stepped into roles that weren’t “theirs” on paper but felt completely natural in practice. It was teamwork in its purest form: instinctive, generous, and unwavering.

What makes this group remarkable is not just how they respond in crisis, but how they show up every day. Support here isn’t a slogan. It’s the quick check-in during a busy shift, the willingness to stay a little longer so someone else can leave on time, the quiet understanding that no one carries the load alone. There’s a rhythm of kindness that runs beneath everything we do, as essential as the medications we dispense.

My team is also community-focussed. Whether it’s participating in the Terry Fox Run or wearing orange shirts for truth and reconciliation, they are quick to volunteer and eager to participate!

Working alongside this team means knowing that no matter what comes through the door, we face it together. We adapt, we support, and we care deeply for both our patients and each other. That kind of environment can’t be manufactured. It’s built moment by moment, by people who choose, again and again, to show up for one another.
