This week is the first week of phase three for our phasing off for Christmas. Phase three introduces some breakfast items that were not previously allowed. I can now have fruit with breakfast. I didn’t realize how much I would miss fruit when I started my weight loss program. The first few days on phase three and I thoroughly enjoyed sliced strawberries, eggs and another sorely missed breakfast item, bacon. Yes, that’s correct, bacon. The food I was missing the most during phases one and two. A food that some would say is not really healthy for you, but in small portions is acceptable. So, I took this opportunity to enjoy some good ol’ bacon. It had been over two months since I enjoyed “a full breakfast”. Although Ideal Protein meals were delicious, my appetite was a lot smaller than it was in the past, so it didn’t take much food to fill me up!
This past week I was on holidays, just doing things around the house and personal errands. Staying on the program was extremely hard because I kept having the urge to snack on junk food. When I am not busy, or watching TV or reading a book, my mind begins to wander. I start to want junk food. In the end I stayed strong and overcame my cravings.
One thing that helped me was thinking about which junk food I would enjoy when I finished this program. I would give myself two choices such as my favourite chocolate (Reese’s cup) and some Party Mix chips. Then I would choose between these two. This coping mechanism was a nice and easy way to distract my brain and plan for the future, an reward when I reach my goal.
After being on phase two for one half of the week and phase three for the other half, I didn’t lose that much this week (less than a pound). This is expected as we have introduced more carbohydrates back into our system and increased the amount of calories. I am glad that the scale didn’t decide to add on more pounds this week. I do know, if it does end up happening, I can just lose it again after our Christmas break. I have lost a total of 40.4lbs since the start of the Ideal Protein program. I am very proud of my results so far. I am also very proud of Paula’s results. We will reach our goals in no time!
