We are currently looking for a dynamic and personable full-time Pharmacist to join our team at Yurek Pharmacy in St. Thomas.
The Pharmacist provides client counseling and acts as a resource person to all staff and other professionals including nurses and doctors. They are accountable for checking prescriptions received and provide authorization to release medications as well as counselling patients and adopting the expanded role of the pharmacist. The Pharmacist is empowered to use their best judgment to provide any level of service that is required by our clients to ensure their total satisfaction. The successful applicant will spend their time jointly between a proactive retail and institutional setting at Yurek Pharmacy Limited in St. Thomas.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer and Staff Service
Assists patients and other staff members as required.
Trains patients on diagnostic monitors and blood pressure machine if required.
Develops & maintains non-sterile compounding mixture files as per OCP/NAPRA guidelines.
Answers client and doctors enquiries.
Counsels clients on the safe use of medications and equipment.
Staff Supervision, Training, and coaching
Participates in compliance packaging for retail and group home clients
Embrace the expanded role of the pharmacist including extending/amending prescriptions, smoking cessation counselling, pharmaceutical opinions and Medschecks®
Supervise and educate students
Supervise compounding as per USP 795, 800 and NAPRA standards
Conduct or arranges for training as required by the Designated Manager
Participates in quality procedures as per ISO guidelines and Yurek policies and procedures
Job Skill Requirements
Holds a B. Sc. Phm. Degree.
Three (3) months experience in Kroll dispensary software an asset.
Current Licensure and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
Experience in Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) and Suboxone is preferred
